In an era where the viability of the Nigerian
Educational system is in question, the prolific author, Mr. Sunday Igwebuike, a
Library and Information Science Student of Delta State University, Abraka, whose
work, BIG BROTHER, a collection of poems for beginners is sitting comfortably
on the shelf of the United States Library of Congress, one of the top Libraries
in the World: joined the heavy weights (Mr. Hammad Khan Pakistan, Mr. Madhu Kalyan India, Mrs. Mbono Dube Zambia, Mr. Sugata Mukhopadhyay Indian, Mr. Sunday Igwebuike Nigeria, Mrs. Archana Kapoor Nagpal India, Mr. Brian Johnston USA, Mrs. Earlymay Chibende Zambia, Mr. Kulbhushan Trehan India, Mrs. Lakshmi C Radhakrishnan India) in the
literary world to produce the book in review A PINCH OF LOVE, PEACE AND HUMANITY.
It goes on to say, that with hard work, sincerity, determination, tenacity of
purpose, focus, plan and pursuit; that success could be achieved in any clime,
the environment notwithstanding. The book quite frantically is about the new
humanism in the much orchestrated global village. This time no longer the song
of die hard politicians and business moguls. This is now a capsule from the
intellectuals, as it is said in the literary circle that the writer, especially
the poet is the unpaid legislator of the world. It is becoming clearer that the
global village is happening live and direct; as you know, the pen is mightier
than the sword. An Igbo proverb captured it long ago, that if a person cooks
for the whole community, it is nothing, for the community would finish it, but
if the community cooks for a person, it is something, for he or she cannot
finish it. That is the whole gamut or essence of the global village. One man is
no longer enough. The new world calls for concerted action among like minds to
move our world forward. It was Zig Ziglar, an American born best selling author
and motivational speaker who said, “that it is insanity to be doing the same
thing, all the time and expect a different outcome.” As we expect a new
humanity, it is expected of us to begin the change wherever we find ourselves
with A PINCH OF LOVE, PEACE AND HUMANITY. A new humanity as the book says is a
change humanity. In Mr. Sunday Igwebuike’s contribution, a work coming from an
African mirror, he gave us a cheering news in his Osondu which means in Igbo language
the race of life, there we encountered a young man who had a clear vision for
the society; who left a high profile position to facilitate with the masses. After
all said and done, Osondu went back to where he rightly belonged; the top
echelon of the society. The race of life is personal, steaming from one’s view point
of life which would lift or debase one as the case may be. The book, A PINCH OF
LOVE, PEACE AND HUMANITY should be in the shelf of every right thinking person
and institution!
